THE HCC MANIFESTO: OUR ‘WHY’

FIRST THINGS FIRST - WHAT THE HECK IS BEING ‘HUMAN-CENTERED’?

Human-Centered Design (HCD) prioritizes understanding and addressing human needs, preferences, and experiences throughout the design process. It creates solutions—products, services, business models, or systems—that are functional, feasible, and deeply aligned with human needs through empathy and collaboration. HCD can extend beyond product development to building companies, relationships and teams, and systems.

WHY LAUNCH NOW?

We started HCC now for three key reasons:

1. The disconnection paradox: the world is so connected, yet has never been more- disconnected. In 2024, 21% of Americans report feeling lonely, with many experiencing a deep sense of disconnection from friends, family, and society at large. Simultaneously, we have more material wealth and leisure time than ever before, yet this hasn't led to greater happiness or fulfillment.

2. Entrepreneurial challenges: the entrepreneurial journey can be challenging. Recently, particularly for those building in (and fundraising) in the consumer sector.

3. Technological innovation spells renewed opportunities: Generative AI will drive consumer behavior changes, creating opportunities for new businesses to emerge integral to consumers and the consumer experience.

WHAT WE ARE BUILDING

Our solution to these three challenges (and opportunities) is simple: focus on humans.

While the world constantly changes, what it means to be human remains the same. Countless studies reveal that human connection drives happiness, and understanding humans creates better products, companies, and experiences. So we launched HCC with a human-centered focus and philosophy because we believe this paradigm will be essential in shaping the businesses, society, and consumers of tomorrow.
